Anita and I were each consultants in the project management office on a very
large and demanding project for a global financial services company. The project
was to provide management oversight for remediation activities for corporate as
well as company operating units around the world. Anita's responsibility in the
PMO was to design status and progress metrics, design scorecards, establish the
communication schemes needed to get status data, and prepare the scorecards on a

“While I was responsible for Mobil Oil Egypt's (MOE) technology platforms Anita
Rose was the project manager for the implementation of Mobil Oil Egypt's (MOE)
Information System Strategy (ISS).
At that time MOE was one of very few USA companies operating in Egypt; it was a
middle size Mobil affiliate with an annual realization of US$ 150 million and a
profit after tax of US$ 10 million. MOE was totally dependent on manual
financial systems. Egyptian and European petroleum competitors were fighting
vigorously over market share which was already hurting MOE's position in the
The ISS initiative involved mechanizing all financial systems as well as
satisfying marketers' information needs to cope with the new challenges.

transformation, head count was reduced by 12%, general expenses by 9% and stocks
and maintenance material inventories by 20%. On a longer term, measurable
